Welcome to Sunset Cove - Lake Sinclair lakefront retreat

Arrival Information

Digital Guidebook

A personal digital guidebook will be sent to you via email, channel chat, or SMS/Text at least 24 hrs prior to your arrival.

Finding the Property

Address and lock code are provided either through email or through the channel used to book your stay.  All mapping apps will get you to the address correctly.  The house is located in a small, quiet neighborhood on the lake.

Arrival and Check-in

Unlock the Fun: Punch in the 4-digit passcode on the front door lock to enter. Issues? Call us at the number provided in our communications or through the booking site you used to reserve your stay

• Set the temp: Feel free to adjust the smart thermostat in the hall (start at 74°F—it gets chilly fast!).

• Parking: Use the driveway including gravel and paved areas to park. No street parking, please!

• Missing Stuff?: If you need light bulbs or kitchen essentials, grab them and keep the receipt—we’ll reimburse you.

• Boat House Key: Find it on the hook in the mud room’s utility closet. Return it when done.

• Trash Talk: Garbage pickup is Tuesday morning. Roll the bin to the street Monday evening and back by Tuesday noon if at all possible.

Safety

• First Aid: Kits are in the kitchen drawer and by the computer.

• No Diving: Dock water is 4-5’ deep, and the pool’s shallow end is a no-dive zone. Jumping’s cool, though!

• Pool Cover: In colder months, keep kids and pets off the pool cover.

House Rules

• Trash: Use the big can by the driveway. Extra garbage? Drop it at 411 Merriweather Rd.

• Towels: Hang wet towels on the screened deck’s hooks. Wash, dry, and fold pool towels before leaving.

• Quiet Time: Keep outdoor noise low after 9 PM to respect neighbors and the county noise ordinance.

• No Smoking: Smoking’s okay outside but dispose of butts safely.

Lights

• Outdoor Lights: Switches for the pool and backyard are by the back door. Turn them off at bedtime to keep neighbors happy.

• Auto Lights: Deck stairs and sidewalk lights turn on at sunset and off at sunrise.

• Pool Light: Runs on a timer, off in winter.

• Dock Lights: Switches are on the dock. Turn them off at night.

The Pool

• Leaves?: Check the strainer basket by the pool or top off the water level as these can lead to excess debris in the pool. We do have a net to clean things from the pool if necessary, and the pool company cleans every Wednesday. If it is in need of an extra visit by the pool company please let us know and we will send them out.

• Lake Swimmers: Rinse off with the outdoor shower or hose before hopping in the pool to avoid algae.

• Pool Crew: Maintenance visits Wednesdays (pool season only).

• Umbrella: Lower it when not in use to protect it from wind.

• Pets: Please no pets in the pool.

Other Amenities

  Water Toys

• Floats, Kayaks, Paddleboards: Use them in the pool or lake! Rinse lake-used items with the dock shower (or spigot under the house deck).

• Storage: Kayaks and paddleboards live under the deck or secured on the dock; paddles are there or in the boathouse. Return them where you found them, but please help to be sure they are secure in case of storms.

Fire Pit

• Cozy Vibes: Use the fire pit by the pool! Buy firewood at Kroger or use fallen branches to start.

The Dock

• Shallow Water: 4-5’ deep, so no diving. Jumping’s fine!

• Lights: Main switch with dimmer is on the boathouse wall. Life vests are inside the boat house closet.

• Shower: Spigot under the house deck turns it on. Use it to rinse off lake water.

Screened Deck

• Bug-Free Zone: Keep screen doors closed.

Wildlife

• Snakes: Harmless brown water snakes may pop up near the lake. Leave them be—they’re just fishing!

• Spiders: Wolf spiders in the pool or dock are harmless mosquito-eaters. Spray them with bug spray (in the garage or dock) if they bug you.

• Fishing: Bass, catfish, and crappie are plentiful. Try meat for catfish or morning fishing for bass!

Other stuff

Exploring the Area

  • The Lake: Our section of the lake is more secluded as it is separated from the rest of the lake by a bridge. Left of the dock leads to shallow private areas; right goes under Hwy 212 bridge to deeper waters.
  • Twin Bridges: 1.5 miles by water or 3 miles by land. Has boat fuel and a store.
  • Eatonton (13 mins): Additional shopping, food and activities.
  • Milledgeville (15 mins): Kroger, Walmart, and great eats like Los Meguayes (Mexican), Local Yolkal Cafe (breakfast), or Aubri Lane’s (upscale).

Local Attractions

Some of the following are seasonal activities and fees may apply.

  • Lake Sinclair access and water sport rentals: There are several lake access areas on the lack.  Here are a few to consider - Twin Bridges Landing, Lake Sinclair Recreation Area, Sinclair Wild Watersports, Sunset Marina, Sinclair marina, Haslam's Marina and Anchors Marina.
  • Little Fishing Creek Golf Course: Considered to be one of the best golf courses in middle GA.
  • Downtown Milledgeville Historic District:  There is a downtown trolley tour and lots of fun places to eat around the college campus.
  • Andalusia:  Home of Flannery O'Connor - open year round
  • Lockerly Arboretum and Rose Hill:
  • Old Governor's Mansion:  Milledgeville was the state capital for a short period of time.
