Welcome to Whispering Woods - A Truly Unique Glamping Experience

Arrival Information

Digital Guidebook

A custom guidebook link for your stay will be sent to you via email, booking channel or SMS/text at least 24 hrs. prior to arrival.

Finding the Property

Address, key box and gate codes are provided in either email or through the channel used to book your stay.  All mapping apps will get you to the address correctly but it can be difficult to see particularly at night.

Finding the Dome

Once inside the main gate, there will be a sign pointing to the gravel drive that leads to the dome (just to the left after entering the gate).  The drive is lined with reflectors to help guide your path if it is dark.

Parking

Please only use the gravel parking and driveway designated for the dome unless otherwise approved with us ahead of time.  We do have space about 1/4 mile off the road to turn around a larger vehicle or a trailer.

The Basics

  •  Mini-Split AC/Heat: Controlled by a remote mounted below the unit on the wall. We have found that around 72°F is best for overall comfort. We use the Vornado fans to circulate air toward the large windows, as the kitchenette stays cooler.
  • Lighting:
    • Main switch at the door controls rope lighting in the dome’s center.
    • Under-cabinet kitchen lighting: Button switch next to the coffee station on the curved wall at counter level.
    • Small LED light on the central wall, controlled by a remote, mounted near the mini-split remote.
  • Fridge & Cabinets: Feel free to use any items left in the fridge, freezer, or cabinets.
  • Missing Items: If light bulbs or kitchen essentials are missing, notify us or purchase them and keep the receipt for reimbursement.

AC Usage: Keep doors closed when the AC is on.

Safety

  • First  Aid: A first aid kit and tick removal kit are in the dome. Notify us if items are missing.
  • Property Exploration:
    • Explore the wooded area, but stay on our property. Remain on the dome side of the creek and follow roads/paths to avoid crossing boundaries.
    • Look for white stripes on border trees. Contact us for help with boundaries.
  • Wildlife:
    • You may encounter snakes, deer, and turkeys. Respect them as wild animals and keep your distance.
    • After exploring, check for ticks. Use the provided tick removal kit and review tick information.

Driving: Deer are active, especially at dusk and dawn. Watch for them crossing roads.

Other Amenities

  • Internet: We do provide internet access for a fee.  Please contact us if you would like to add this to your stay.
  • Coffee Maker:
    • K-cup and full-pot coffeemakers are on the coffee cart near the door.
  • Laundry:
    • No on-site washer/dryer for full loads. A small manual laundry tub is under the counter next to the coffee cart for small items (e.g., towel, shirt).  Air dry outside.
  • In-Sink Dishwasher:
    • Handles  a small load of dishes. Instructions are in the bottom drawer of the main kitchen cabinet. Contact us for help.
  • Lights:
    • Main switch controls ceiling rope light.
    • Includes 2 bedside lights, under-cabinet kitchen lights, a remote-controlled LED on the central wall, a standard bathroom light, and mixed solar/electric outdoor lights.
    • Report any issues.
  • AC/Heat & Fans:
    • Mini-split on the kitchen wall, controlled by a remote.
    • Manually adjust Vornado fans to circulate air due to the dome’s unique shape.
  • Outdoor Items:
    • Storage cabinet on the deck (corner nearest driveway) contains outdoor games, a portable tub, and a small charcoal grill.
    • Use outdoor items outside only. Charcoal not provided.
  • Chimenea:
    • Gas-powered; a tank is provided. If empty, purchase a refill, keep the receipt, and we’ll reimburse you.
  • Outdoor Games:
    • Cornhole, lawn darts and ring toss games can be found in the storage cabinet at the corner of the deck.  Please return them to the box as you found them before you leave.
  • Trails:
    • We have cleared and marked a trail (red trail) that leads to the stream, large granite outcropping and other interesting areas near the dome.  If you are interested in locations and best paths to other interesting areas of the property, please let us know and we can get you some more details as we are working to clear these paths in a manner that does not disturb the surrounding woods as much as possible.
  • Outdoor Tub:
    • There is a pop-up outdoor tub located in the storage box on the deck and a hose and hose sprayer to fill the tub.  There is a spigot on the wooded side of the deck.  If you use the tub, please leave it emptied but on the deck.

Other stuff

  • Garbage: If the large can outside the gate is full, take excess to 411 Merriweather Rd.
  • Wet Items: Keep wet items and pets off interior furniture.
  • Noise: Minimize outdoor noise after 9 PM per Baldwin County noise ordinance.
  • Smoking: Not allowed inside the dome.
